Now that we've passed April 1st, one thing comes to mind for many of us: spring cleaning our home. While it's not the highlight of my spring, and it's an annual ritual many people don't enjoy (I know I will certainly hire it out), it gives a fresh start to my home that I always appreciate once it's over. Cleanliness provides clarity, which in turn, helps me sleep a little better.
When it's done, I always look around in amazement at how knocking the dust off things and getting my house in order makes me feel. And it makes me feel gooood!
For many investors, it may have been years since they really took a look at their portfolio. I can't imagine not cleaning my house for years, yikes! Spring cleaning your investments involves rolling up your sleeves a bit and taking a good look at what you may have missed, which sometimes takes a trained eye. If that sounds like too much of an undertaking, let us do the heavy lifting for you.
The Six Point Risk Assessment Tool
Our Six Point Risk Assessment is the perfect tool to get started. It's a thorough, multi faceted analysis that helps to validate what you're doing right, or it can uncover if your portfolio has fallen out of touch with what your goals are. We offer it for free; no strings attached, no fine print. I don't know about you, but if someone offered to clean my house for free, I would jump on that in a heartbeat before they changed their mind!
During this assessment, we will take a comprehensive look at your stocks, bonds, annuities, mutual funds, alternative investments and REIT's, and how your investments are diversified. We also look at who manages your money, and if your portfolio is in line with your goals. Are you exposed to too much risk? Is your portfolio growth being hindered by high fees or hidden fees? Are you holding investments that have high expense ratios?
Most importantly, and let's be honest here, maybe you just don't like your advisor! Are they hard to get a hold of? Do you have a nagging feeling something isn't right? Knowing what we know from an insider perspective, we often find that nagging feeling is trying to tell you something, and we can usually tell you what it is.
The risks we can uncover are almost too numerous to mention, but often result from a portfolio that doesn't line up with the objectives you are hoping it does. This is usually because you have told your advisor what your objectives are for your portfolio, but they are putting you in the same exact portfolio they use for many other clients.
